Hiking Trails on Oahu

Pohakea - January 22, 2017 Baron was able to get access into Kunia Farms. I guess he has always longed to go back to the Pohakea Pass. As it stands, it probably is the most scariest hike I've been on and he admits that it was scary for him too. Maybe he wanted to see it in all of its glory, again? Who knows what the motivation was?  Baron was going to do recon of the area. He usually only invites his most trusted hikers, which is us, the OAG's. Mainly we are down for whatever and won't complain in the process. The goal today was to get to the base of the Pohakea Pass via an old Jeep Road. Then, we would contour and head up a ridge up to the summit and get to the top of the pass. Simple enough. Paperbark Corridor - March 28, 2016 Erik was off on this day. Daniel and I were off too. On our last day of Spring Break, we decided to revisit Waikakalaua. Erik and I have been here at least 4 times already, so we already knew our way. Daniel hasn't been here, so he was in for a treat. This is the type of trail Daniel likes to do. We started at 10am. The best place to start a trail...in a residential neighborhood where no one bothers. It took us 40 minutes to get to Waikakalaua Ridge. Daniel seemed impressed at what the trail had to offer. Its just a cool place to hike. From the ridge, I thought it would be fast to the paperbark corridor, but it took 45 minutes. When we got there, it was money. Waikakalaua Stream – November 23, 2012 We didn’t find the tunnels today, but that’s okay. A few months back, I scouted possible access points to get down towards Waikakalaua Stream. Today, along with Erik, we would find what we were looking for. Erik has lived in Wahiawa his whole life and I have lived in Mililani most of my life. This hike, albeit an exploration hike would make a lot of sense. Waikakalaua stream separates Wahiawa from Mililani. The hike is described in Stuart Ball’s original book, though I don’t have that book, it wouldn’t matter today as we were going to explore a different route.        Our goal was to find the pool and tunnels. We would allot ourselves 2 hours in and 2 hours out, for a total of 4 hours. Erik and I met at the Park & Ride, and immediately we drove up the road.
