Hiking Trails on Oahu

  Palisades Falls - September 5, 2016 Better known as Waimano Falls, the residents in Pearl City Palisades call it Palisades Falls. I know this because while teaching at Pearl City, the kids there don't call it Waimano Falls, they don't even know what that is.  Today, our family joined Michelle's co-worker Jonelle and her kids this hike. Actually there were a lot of people on this hike. Even the OAG's came along. The trail is extremely popular, that is why now, I put it in the category of touristy because when we got there, about 2 dozen people where at the falls. While going back, another 50 people were heading towards the falls, making the traffic about 100 people in the short time we were there.  The highlight of the hike was the kids jumping off the ledge into a deep pool. Waimano Falls (Illumination Hike) – July 3, 2013   Many months ago, OAG member Daniel found some cool pictures on the Internet portraying beautiful waterfalls that appear to illuminate.   The OAG’s put their minds together and actually figured out how to do it, in theory. We put our plan into action. Daniel bought glow sticks, which is the primary tool to make this cool effect. Then we decided on a place to shoot, which would be Waimano Pools. We created a simple plan 1) hike at sunset 2) set up tripods and camera’s at the bottom of the falls 3) runners go to the top dropping glow sticks, while the others at the bottom retrieve it, simple right!   With a solid plan, we just needed a good time to hike. However, everyone seemed to be busy + Aprille was in the Philippines. We wanted all OAG members to be on this hike because of the Epicness. In the end, we decided to 'just do it'.
