A Famous Landmark in Japan, but not so much in Hawaii
The Hitachi Tree - October 25, 2014 Today we decided to go feed the ducks. That was my selling point to the kids to get them to come with me on this day. But my true intention was for them to take a picture in front of the Hitachi Tree. Every time I came to Moanalua Gardens, I always wondered why so many Japanese tourist wanted to take a picture in front of that tree. I decided to do some research and found that this tree is in fact famous in Japan and when the Japanese tourist come here, they make a trip to see that tree. The tree is famous because it is the Hitachi Group's logo. It was shown in a commercial back in the 1970s and has remained part of the company logo ever since. Hitachi makes electronic equipment and vehicles as well as plans and creates industrial system. The tree is suppose to symbolize its ever expanding business. That is why it grew so wide. Also, the tree is deemed by the City and County of Honolulu as exceptional. I guess that means its a great tree....
